Hyundai sets September sales record with 48% boost

When they are wandering the streets of Chicago, Hyundai Genesis drivers are likely looking about and noticing plenty of other Hyundai on the road.  Hey look, there is a Genesis, and there is a Sonata, and another Genesis! Chicagoans are probably thinking nothing of it, going home, and going to sleep – only to open the Chicago Tribune in the morning to read about Hyundai Motor America’s record setting sales record increase for September.  Now it all makes sense! This past September, Hyundai experienced an unprecedented 48 percent jump in sales compared to September of last year.  It is not happenstance that Sonata and Genesis drivers are the models so heavily populating Chicago streets: Sonata sales were up 161 percent over the same period in 2009, and Genesis sales set a new benchmark with 3,230 units.

Hyundai strengthening its American car base

South Korea is no longer going to be sweet home for some Hyundai vehicles.  The California-based marketing strategists for Hyundai have announced that production of the 2011 Hyundai Elantra is moving to Montgomery, Alabama.  The Elantra will share its new, down-South home with the popular Sonata, one of Hyundai’s top-sellers in recent years.  This move marks a strong step in the South Korean car manufacturer’s push to adapt its vehicles to the U.S. market.  No need to worry about driving south of the Mason-Dixon Line from Chicago; Hyundai Genesis, Elantra, and Sonata models will be available all over the great Midwest.
